Maintaining spouting and drains
When was the last time your spouting and drains were checked? As we are well into autumn, now is a good time to get all them maintenance jobs done before winter.
Everyone knows that blocked spouting is a pain, but did you realise just how much trouble it can cause? The first symptoms you will usually need to deal with are flooding and leakage. A leak into your ceiling cavity can cause water damage to your ceilings and walls and create mould, rust and rotting into timber work.
The first thing to do when tackling a spouting clean is to make sure your ladder is safe and sturdy before you start working.
Clear any excess leaves or tree litter from your spouting.
HOT TIP: if you want great mulch for the garden scoop it all into a bucket and spread it around your vege patch later.
Once spouting is clear, it's now time to wash it down. A garden hose is good for this job. Keep your eye out for any leaks
